It’s that time of year again where ghoulish goings on grip the nation, with Halloween this Monday.
We know many of you - old and young - will be getting your most frightful fancy dress ready to head out trick or treating and to parties.
But it’s not just you that can get dressed up this Halloween. Why not try to make your own Halloween - or should that be Hallobean - hot drink?
Pumpkin Spiced Latte
For this you’ll need a tin of pumpkin puree (you can pick this up from Sainsbury’s), your favourite coffee and a well-stocked spice rack.
First to make the pumpkin spice: Simply mix 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger, 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg, 1 ½ teaspoons ground allspice together in a bowl. Have a little sniff - smells like Autumn doesn’t it?
Now for the milky mixture: Whisk 1/2 cup milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree, 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, and 2 drops of vanilla extract in a small saucepan over low heat. Simmer for 5 minutes. Whisk in remaining 1/2 cup milk.
Sieve the pulp out of the mixture and return to the heat for two minutes. Continue to whisk the mixture together as it simmers.
Then simply add your desired shots of espresso coffee and whisk for one more minute.
Now sit back and enjoy this devilish drink delight.
For adults - why not add a few shots of Bailey’s Pumpkin Spice Liqueur to make the perfect warming post-trick or treating drink
